My Story
Hi. I'm Mark aka The Barefoot Paddler. Having spent years of exploring and paddling throughout the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, one may consider me somewhat a reliable source in certain areas of the Wilderness. From 2021 to 2023, I completed every maintained canoe portage within the BWCA.

I recorded every trail while I was using them, ultimately creating an extremely accurate and up-to-date map. FUN FACT: I have completed all of the portages barefoot.
Being that I usually take extended trips for weeks at a time, studying edible plants just made sense to me, as the more I gather, the less I have to carry. This led to me creating an Edible Plants pamphlet to try to help people learn some basic local plants and berries. Go to the Pamphlet page for more information.
